Taupo

So... I strapped myself to a beautiful stranger and I jumped out of a plane 4km in the air.

And then the parachute opened.

It was so awesome!

Melbourne

We actually didn’t have plans on going to Melbourne, but we decided to go anyway, because everybody told us how fantastic it was.

We also had a special invitation from some distant family members of mine, whom we visited.

We went to the Great Ocean Road to see the stunning scenery. Even though it was raining, we enjoyed it very much.

On the way we saw koalas. Lots and lots of koalas! In fact there were so many koalas, that they are eating themselves to extinction! Normally koalas don’t like each other, but here some of them shared their trees!

Here's a part of the fire show in Melbourne

John and Elaine, were very friendly and invited us to join their Easter dinner with one of their daughters and her children.

Butt of a wombat
After dinner we went to visit their other daughter and her family, we were introduced to the whole family and we had a great day. We even saw kangaroos in the wild!

We also went on a tour to Philip Island to see the Penguin Parade.
The little penguins walk all the way from the sea, where they catch fish all day long, to their kids in the nests on land several kilometres away!

On the way there we went to a sanctuary where I saw a Tasmanian devil and the butt of a wombat!

We went to the skydeck, the tallest building in Melbourne.

Sydney - back again

Back in Sydney we had booked a hostel through Peter Pans travel agency, trusting their words “It’s alright, but not luxury.”

It was the worst hostel we have stayed on through our 7 months in Australia! It was small and dirty, we had cockroaches in the kitchen, which was so disgusting we didn’t want to use anything but the microwave.

And… We had bedbugs… again…
We told reception, they “sprayed the room”. We still had them. We told reception – they “sprayed the room again”, but promised us a proffecional would come. And he did… the day we left.

The Hostel “Home Backpackers” was absolutely outrageous, DON’T GO THERE!!!

The least they could do – and did -  was to give us money for the clothes washing.
Luckily we got rid of them for good!

The good things about Sydney were: The Chinese Garden! You saw my pictures from the first time, it’s still the same, I just had to go back!

We also went to The Blue Mountain, which are blue because of all the eucalyptus trees. It was amazing, and definitely worth it!

The Three Sisters is one of the main points in the Mountains.

The Three Sisters
The legend tells about a great wizard with three daughters. While he was out in the forest hunting, he saw his three daughters being hunted by a bunyip – a monster that lives in waterholes.

To save his three daughters the wizard turned them into stone with a magic bone, but then the bunyip turned around and started chasing him instead.

To get away, he turned himself into a frog (I think it was a frog, I don’t really remember).

The bunyip gave up and went to sleep again, but the wizard lost the bone! Even today he is still looking for it, and the three sisters remain stone.

Here's a panoramic video shot. Please ignore the people talking in the background!
