Surfers Paradise

Our room was really nice: only 5 beds, and one of them was free. Martin got a double bed all by himself and we had a balchony.

The beach was no more than 10 minutes walk away, and the skyscrabers reached for the sun all over the city.

In the evening there was a market by the beach and there were lots of artists dancing, juggling, playing and drawing on the main streets.

We went to Peter Pans, a travel agency, to book our tour to Melbourne, and while the poor guy was trying to talk on the phone to make our reservations, we had some fun...

We made a penguin fly!!!

Here's a little video, so you can see Surfer's Paradise.

Brisbane

After 2 nights in a tent, it was nice to get a real bed again, and after 2 months in small towns, it was nice to be back in the big city!

Martin and I miss Sydney a bit, it was our home for almost 5 months!

Brisbane was nice - especially by night, where the streets and buildings were lit up by thousands of lights!

Hello Kitty glasses!

I found a place in the middle of the city, where the 40th symphony of Mozart was played!

There were markets

And city-roos!

The Everglades

The Everglades is a wetland, where we rowed in canoes on the lakes of water so black and so clear, that you would get confused what was up and what was down.

We were in a group of 13 people in 6 canoes, without a guide.

We slept in a tent in the forest. Alone. With nothing but the tent between us and the goannas!

Our guide had warned us, that the goannas did not fear us, and they would get really close.

Yet nothing had prepared me for what happend that morning.

"Ditte? Ditteeee! DITTE!!?"
"What is it Martin?" I asked him sleepily.
"It's a goanna! There's a goanna right outside our tent, and it's trying to get in!"

Suddenly I was wide awake. I sat up and turned my head to wear he was pointing and I could see it's claws when it was trying to make the small hole in the tent bigger.
"Get away!!!" he screamed at it, but it just came back.

Soon both of us were screaming and hitting the side of the tent with shoes, but it refused to go away.
"Help! There's a goanna right outside our tent!"
We could hear the other campers waking up and whispering all around us.

"Relax." someone said close by. "It's just a bush turkey..."
Martin and I shared a look, before we opened the tent and ran out after the turkey, laughing.

The eventful morning was followed by a loooooong paddle tour followed by a loooooong walk to a sand dune.

After about half an hours resting at the sand dunes, we had to go all the way back!

Dinner was made like this:

And it tasted alright despite the sight of it...

Noosa

Noosa was a cosy little town with Coles!! (our cheap supermarket) and beautiful walks in the National park.

Our hostel, Nomads, was really good. We got wristbands for free pizza, free beer and free punch, just for showing up to a free info meeting!

Even our room mates were all really nice!

The costal walk was long and tough, but it was worth it!

Even when we came to Hell's Gates...

Theese are jellyfish popping, when we step on them. Their "body" is just a boubble that keeps them floating, but their long blue strings hurt a lot if you touch them.
